Kansas City, MO--Belger Crane Yard Studios hosts its first spring Open House on Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2, 2015. Visitors can shop for a Mother’s Day gift made by local artists at the Studio Member sale, or purchase a gift certificate for classes and art supplies. The Open House is a free, family event with pottery wheel demonstrations and hands-on kids’ clay activities. This is a unique event where the following establishments housed at this four-building art complex are open for visitors to see artwork, meet the artists, and learn about upcoming children and adult classes and workshops: Crane Yard Clay ceramic supply and equipment store; Asheer Akram Metalworks and the Pakistani Cargo Truck Initiative; Belger Crane Yard Gallery; Red Star Studios; and The Lawrence Lithography Workshop. The Belger Crane Yard Studios are conveniently located between Belger Arts Center, in the Crossroads Arts District, and Kansas City’s historic 18th & Vine Jazz District. This four-building complex, constructed between 1908 and 1918, has become a destination for artists and art lovers. It houses the Belger Crane Yard Gallery, a contemporary art gallery; the Red Star Artist in Residence program; studios for ceramic artists; Asheer Akram Metalworks, a metal workshop; the Lawrence Lithography Workshop, a lithography gallery and workshop; The Random Lab ceramic studios; and Crane Yard Clay, a ceramic equipment and supply business. This exhibition takes place at Belger Crane Yard Gallery. Exhibitions are also scheduled at Belger Arts Center at 2100 Walnut Street.
