Photo courtesy of the artist. | FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Kansas City, MO – The Belger Glass Annex is pleased to present artist Minhi England, a Seattle-based glass artist and season 3 finalist on the Netflix television series “Blown Away.” England’s guest artist visit will include the following programs: Free artist talk on Wednesday, June 5, 6pm - 7pm at Belger Crane Yard Studios (2011 Tracy Ave. KCMO, 64108); Free First Friday glassblowing demonstration on Friday, June 7, 6pm - 8pm at the Belger Glass Annex (1219 E. 19th St. KCMO, 64108); “Sculpt Like Everyone’s Watching,” a five-day masterclass with Minhi England, Monday, June 3 - Friday, June 7 at the Belger Glass Annex (1219 E. 19th St. KCMO, 64108). England’s glassblowing demonstration and artist talk will cover themes and techniques unique to her work. In England’s five-day masterclass, “Sculpt Like Everyone’s Watching,” participants will delve into advanced sculpting techniques and explore nuanced color application to achieve different surface textures and intricate patterns.
Minhi England is a multi-disciplinary artist primarily working in glass. England earned her BFA from Alfred University in 3D studies, focused on glassblowing and metal casting. Since graduating in 2010, England has established herself as a professional glassblower, designer, and independent artist.
England has been awarded several artist residencies such as the Hauberg Residency at Pilchuck Glass School, the Hilltop Artists Residency in Tacoma, WA, Pittsburgh Glass Center Residency and has shown at Bellevue Art Museum. In 2022, she was a season 3 finalist in the Netflix Series, "Blown Away."

Since 2000, the Belger Arts Center has encouraged viewers to explore, question, and deepen their understanding of art and the world around them. Belger Crane Yard Studios, an arts complex dedicated to providing studio and exhibition space for artists, opened in 2013. A range of programming in ceramics education, in addition to an Artist in Residence program, has made Belger a center for contemporary art.
The Belger Glass Annex is the third Belger Arts location and opened to the public in October 2021. It is the first public glass blowing studio in Kansas City of its scale and scope. The new facility boasts state-of-the-art glass blowing equipment and tools, a furnace that holds 300 pounds of molten glass, and three workstations. The Belger Glass Annex is primed to be a Midwest hub for glass art, education, and appreciation, strengthening Kansas City’s reputation as an arts destination.
