Belger Crane Yard Gallery

Belger Arts is pleased to present Brimming: Belger Arts Goblet Invitational, an exhibition that opens Friday, July 12. Please join us for the opening night reception from 6 to 8 pm at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery (2011 Tracy Ave., KCMO).

Artists from across the country were invited to create interpretations of the goblet form. The exhibition includes a variety of media, approaches, and styles--from the most pristine representation of the form to the most out-of-the-box design.

View over 50 ceramics, glass, and mixed media works. Meet many of the participating artists on opening night and vote for your favorite goblet.

Escape the summer heat at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery with a newly curated holiday selection of handmade, decorative, and functional work by Rachel Akin, Nicole Aquillano, Katie Hogan, Jess Palmer, and Maya Rumsey. We’ll also have hand-blown glassware and ornaments created by Belger Glass Annex artists available for purchase in the Gallery.

Shop online beginning July 1 or stop by the gallery next month during business hours to get an early start on your holiday purchases.

Emily Chamberlain is our July Mug of the Month artist. Her work explores “form, function, whimsy, and playfulness.”  Her mugs are layered with multiple surface techniques that invite viewers into her “world of color, texture, and imagination.”

Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, Chamberlain holds a Bachelor of Science degree in both Art Education and Ceramic Design from SUNY Buffalo State College and a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics from Wichita State University.  She currently teaches at Wichita South High School in Wichita, KS.

Passing Moments: Belger Arts’ Eleventh Annual Resident Exhibition

is on view through September 7 at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery. The exhibition includes work by Joel PisowiczGina Pisto, and Logan Reynolds and is the culmination of their artist residencies at the Belger Crane Yard StudiosThe past year has been one of growth and change for the artists and the exhibition is a reflection of the “passing moments” experienced during this pivotal time in their careers. The artists explore nostalgia, memorial, and how objects present a view into the past.

Passing Moments was recently written about by KCUR reporter Xiao daCunha in her article, These are the 6 Kansas City art exhibits you need to explore this summer.

Nicole Woodard's small sculptures and cups demonstrate her signature style of black and white self-portraiture. Her practice explores the vulnerabilities of the human condition with subtle humor throughout.

Woodard earned a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics from the University of Kansas, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. She exhibits nationally, is a Belger Arts artist in residence alumna and has completed residencies at the Hambidge Center and Penland School of Crafts. Woodard currently lives in Sheboygan, WI where she's the Pottery Technician at the John Michael Kohler Art Center.

Woodard's work will be available for purchase online and at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery through July 31, 2024.

Artists included in Whispers and Screams: Voices from the Belger Collection at the Belger Arts Center (2100 Walnut St., KCMO) explore memories and moments in time. Some of those memories are loud and jarring, while others are more reflective and have softened with the passage of time. There are examples of stereotypes, idealized love, lust, romance, excitement, loss, and regret. These works are glimpses into the complexity of communities at all levels, highligthting both their commonalities and differences.

The exhibition will be on view through August 3, 2024. To schedule a tour for this or any Belger Arts exhibition please email gallery@belgerarts.org or call 816-474-7316.
