This fall Belger focuses on a local hero — the legendary Roger Shimomura. In its first showing outside the Pacific Northwest, An American Knockoff opens Oct. 7, 2016 through Jan. 14, 2017. This exhibition features acrylic paintings of Shimomura with recognizable American icons such as Porky Pig, Goofy the Dog, and Uncle Sam.
In this series, the artist inserts himself into the work, battling or becoming stereotypes in a tongue-in-cheek fashion, to personify the Asian-American experience. |

Dan Anderson’s pots possess a life and vitality so rich and wholesome, it’s no wonder he is lauded as one of the Midwest’s most treasured potters. Come for one day to see his techniques and hear his stories, or stay for the second day and try some of the techniques yourself. In our latest Digital Debut, we present an electronic exhibition of Sarah Pike's beautiful work. Sarah Pike is a full-time ceramic artist living and making functional slab-built pots in Fernie, BC, Canada. She creates functional pottery in a warm, red stoneware coated in a luscious, satin matte glaze. Pike's pottery is likely to be your new go-to mug for your morning coffee or tea. |
