Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10
Jim Connell and Paula Smith will simultaneously present their working methods during this one-day demonstration and two-day hands on workshop.On the first day of the workshop, Connell, widely known for his mastery of the functional and sculptural teapot, will demonstration throwing techniques as well as his use of fluting and faceting on his forms. Glazing and sandblasting surface techniques will be discussed as well. Smith, whose work is often more sculptural, will present functional pieces that are embellished with elements from nature, her most beloved subject matter. On the second day of the workshop, participants will try the techniques from the first day while getting feedback and seeing more advanced demonstrations from the presenters. |
