Figurative Sculpting Demo with Visiting Artist Heidi Schultz

Working in solid form, Heidi Schultz will demonstrate how she works with coils, scaffolding, and other tools to create three-dimensional characters based on a children’s book that she’s writing. She'll also share how she comes up with the ideas for her characters before bringing them to life in clay. During her demonstration, Schultz will have a second clay form on which attendees can experiment.


Adults, children, and teens are welcome. Participants under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Resident Artist Spotlight:

Logan Reynolds

Logan Reynolds is originally from Colorado and received his BFA from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2017. He was a Project Network resident at Guldagergaard International Ceramic Research Center in Skælskør, Denmark in 2018 and has participated in many group shows across the U.S. He completed his MFA in Ceramics from Ohio University in 2023 prior to moving to Kansas City, MO where he is currently a Foundation Resident at Belger Crane Yard Studios. Reynolds describes the content of his work as “observational and semi-autobiographical [drawing] from popular culture and media streams in search of a more universal pulse.

 

Work by Reynolds and fellow resident artists Joel Pisowicz, and Gina Pisto is featured in Passing Moments: Belger Arts’ Eleventh Annual Resident Exhibition at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery. The exhibition is a culmination of their artist residencies at the Belger Crane Yard Studios

July Mug of the Month Artist

Emily Chamberlain

July Mug of the Month artist Emily Chamberlain explores “form, function, whimsy, and playfulness.”  Her mugs are layered with multiple surface techniques that invite viewers into her “world of color, texture, and imagination.” 

 

Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, Chamberlain holds a Bachelor of Science degree in both Art Education and Ceramic Design from SUNY Buffalo State College and a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics from Wichita State University.  She currently teaches at Wichita South High School in Wichita, KS.


Chamberlain's mugs are available for purchase online and at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery through July 31.
