Call for Artists

Belger Arts is pleased to announce a collaboration involving the Belger Glass Annex and the Kansas City Museum. The Belger Glass Annex was invited to design and fabricate a glass installation that will be on permanent display at the Museum, Kansas City’s leading institution on local and regional history.

Now Belger Arts is seeking nine glass artists for the fabrication and installation of the design’s glass facets and forms. The nine-person team will consist of three gaffers and six assistants. Early to established glass artists based in the United States are eligible to apply. Application deadline is January 15, 2024 (11:59PM CST). For timelines, application requirements, and additional details, visit our website.

First Friday Glass Demo December 1

The Belger Glass Annex (1219 E. 19th St., KCMO) continues to host guest artists from outside Kansas City to promote education and appreciation for glass art. Join us on Friday, December 1, from 6pm - 8pm as two artists from western Kansas take the stage.

Roberta Eichenberg and Kale Stewart have been collaborating for the past year on a body of artwork consisting of blown glass dresses adorned with sculpted glass appliques. Roberta and Kale will lead the Belger Glass Annex team in creating the next dress in the collection.

November Mug of the Month

Belger studio member Paul Mallory, Alexander Krohn, and Kat Ramsey have collaborated on a mug series for the November Mugs of the Month. Krohn threw the mugs on the wheel, Ramsey decorated them, and Mallory glazed them.

Krohn is a master potter who produces historical pottery based on finds from medieval Europe. He also enjoys fusing aspects of historical shape with modern function. Mallory is a long-time artist who teaches ceramics. His goal is to create functional ceramics that serve as touchstones of beauty. Ramsey is skilled across all mediums and nature is her biggest muse. For this series of mugs, she drew inspiration from the grasses of western Kansas.

These mugs will be available online and at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery through November 30.

Purchase a Mug of the Month even if you don't have a subscription! This means you can buy a mug by an artist you love when they become available. However, having a monthly subscription reserves your spot to receive a new mug every month before they’re made available to the public.
