October Mug of the Month

Our October "Mug of the Month" featured artist is Keegan O’Brien. He describes working with hot glass as an “unparalleled opportunity to explore how light interacts with fluid forms, revealing the inherent beauty and complexity of this ancient craft.” His collection of drinking vessels highlights this fascination with form and light.

O'Brien is based in Kansas City and works as a gaffer at Monarch Glass Studio. He enjoys contributing to the local glass art community while refining his craft.

Purchase one of his colorful “optic cups” online and at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery (2011 Tracy Ave., KCMO) through October 31.

On View at the

Belger Arts Center

Whispers and Screams: Voices from the Belger Collection at the Belger Arts Center (2100 Walnut St., KCMO) includes work by artists who explore memories and moments in time. Some of those memories are loud and jarring, while others are more reflective and have softened with the passage of time. There are examples of stereotypes, idealized love, lust, romance, excitement, loss, and regret. These works are glimpses into the complexity of communities at all levels, highlighting both their commonalities and differences.

The exhibition is on view through January 4, 2025. To schedule a tour for this or any Belger Arts exhibition please email gallery@belgerarts.org or call 816-474-7316.
