Subject: “Blown Away” Visiting Artist, Call for Art, Resident Artist Exhibition & More!

Annual Resident Artist Exhibition Opens June 7

Belger Crane Yard Gallery presents Passing Moments: Belger Arts’ Eleventh Annual Resident Exhibition opening Friday, June 7, 2024, at 2011 Tracy Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64108. The public is invited to an opening night reception from 6 to 8 pm, where the participating artists will give remarks at 6:30 pm.

The exhibition includes work by Joel Pisowicz, Gina Pisto, and Logan Reynolds and is the culmination of their artist residencies at the Belger Crane Yard Studios. The past year has been one of growth and change for the artists and the exhibition is a reflection of the “passing moments” experienced during this pivotal time in their careers. Passing Moments explores nostalgia, memorial, and how objects present a view into the past.

Call For Art

We are accepting artwork submissions through June 8 for our goblet-themed exhibition opening at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery (2011 Tracy Ave., KCMO) this July.

This exhibition is open to contemporary, traditional, and personal interpretations of what a goblet is and what a goblet represents. Whether it is the most pristine representation of the form, or the most out-of-the-box design, artists are invited to bring their personal styles to the table.

Purchase Awards totaling up to $2,500 will be offered.

Digital Debut: Sarah Veak

For Digital Debut, Sarah Veak leans into her artistic origins, with clean lines and bold swaths of color that speak to her earliest work and some of her earliest memories. She wanted to create that feeling of nostalgia from her childhood--the checkered tablecloth in her grandmother's kitchen, air thick with the sweet nuttiness of pancakes and syrup, the scent of rich coffee, tree ripe orange juice and mouthwatering bacon.

Only a few of Veak's works are left! Purchase online or at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery through May 31, 2024.

May Mug of the Month: Joel Pisowicz

May Mugs of the Month are by Belger artist-in-residence Joel Pisowicz. Though Pisowicz creates a variety of functional and sculptural artworks, he prefers to take a more traditional approach when making steins. For Pisowicz says, it’s all about, “ergonomics and stability.”

Pisowicz's mugs are available online and at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery through May 31.
