Subject: Belger Arts Residency Deadlines + Visiting Glass Artist Rob Stern

March 1 deadline: Visiting Glass Artist Residency

2022 inaugural visiting artist Morgan Peterson

The Belger Glass Annex hosts two visiting artists a year—one in the spring and one in the fall. The Visiting Artist Program provides mid-career glass artists the opportunity to expand their body of work or create a special project that is outside the scope of their studio practice. The program also provides the opportunity for artists to share their knowledge and skill sets with a growing community of glassblowers in the heart of the U.S.

We are accepting submissions for the fall residency through March 1, 2023. For more information, please visit the “Glass Annex” tab at BelgerArts.org and select “Visiting Glass Artist” in the drop-down menu, or email Glass Annex Manager Katie Hogan at khogan@belgerartscenter.org.

Rachel Warren is Belger’s February Mug of the Month artist. She studied Illustration and Animation at the University of Kansas, where she also took ceramics. Working out of her home studio, Warren makes functional ceramic works, exploring different decorative techniques. When she’s not in her studio, she’s an instructor and manager at EPIC Clay Studio in Kansas City, KS. Her mugs represent small moments in her life that she has observed and etched. Learn more about Rachel Warren on her artist page.

Purchase a Mug of the Month even if you don't have a subscription! This means you can buy a mug by an artist you love when they become available. However, having a monthly subscription reserves your spot to receive a new mug every month before they’re made available to the public.

Upcoming Exhibition

Terry Winters, A Light Zone Visible, 1993. Oil, alkyd on linen. 96 x 120 in. Courtesy of the Belger Collection.

Terry Winters is a contemporary American painter and printmaker who is represented in depth in the Belger Collection. A native New Yorker, Winters graduated from Pratt Institute in 1971, focusing on painting. Through the 1970s, while studying nature, especially molecular level life forms, Winters honed his craft as a drawer and a painter until he was ready for his inaugural exhibition in 1982 at the prestigious Sonnabend Gallery. Later that same year he began his first foray into printmaking at Universal Limited Art Editions on Long Island. Winters became one of the leading printmakers in the United States.  Over the years, Winters paintings, drawings, and prints have been featured in major retrospectives at the Boston Museum of Fine Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Irish Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. His upcoming exhibition at the Belger Arts Center opens on first Friday March 3 and runs through August 5, 2023.
