April 15 deadline: Artists in Residence Program

Resident Artist Nicole Rene Woodard

We invite artists (emerging to established) who wish to expand upon their professional and artistic development in ceramics to apply for the Artists in Residence Program. We offer 24/7 studio access, a material and firing stipend, teaching opportunities at Belger Arts, a ceramics supply retail outlet (Crane Yard Clay) within the studio complex, and more! Go to the “Artists in Residence” tab of BelgerArts.org to find out more or contact Studio Manager Paul Maloney at pmaloney@belgerartscenter.org.

Final Weeks – Digital Debut

Digital Debut artist Chandler Martin with his work on view at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery

Our current Digital Debut artist is Chandler Martin. He was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Plano, Texas. In 2015, he received his BFA in Ceramics from the Kansas City Art Institute. Since then, he has been actively involved with various art organizations in the Kansas City metro area.

Chandler’s work captures memories and recreates personal events by sculpting gestural figures which carry the spirit of a particular moment in time. By depicting the actions of everyday life, he shows the viewer that despite how different we may be from each other, we can connect through our collective nostalgia and past experiences. His work is available online and at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery through April 30.

Jacqueline Kaplan is Belger’s April Mug of the Month artist, and her mugs are available for purchase online and in the gallery. Jacqueline was born and raised in Kansas City. She attended University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington for two years where she studied a diverse range of subjects. After refocusing she began her dedicated practice in ceramics, spending countless hours at the wheel, and taking classes at local studios. Jacqueline combines bright colors and intuitive designs to spark curiosity. Start the spring season with a vibrant and colorful mug by a local artist. Learn more about Jacqueline Kaplan on her artist page.

Purchase a Mug of the Month even if you don't have a subscription! This means you can buy a mug by an artist you love when they become available. However, having a monthly subscription reserves your spot to receive a new mug every month before they’re made available to the public.
