If you have not yet harvested honey from your apiary sites but have had bees from Aug/Sept 2012 be sure to get on top of it in the next couple of weeks. Soon it will be time to let your bees be & allow them to build stores for winter.
We have honey tanks with heating elements built in all housed with 304 stainless steel that has a thermostat and ball valve tap. It holds a 110Kg load with a stainless steel lid and grip handles. They make good for general settling tank, storage tank and honey heating tank altogether!
What to do with wax cappings? If you don't have more than 3Kg of melted wax cappings using either a home made wax solar melter as discussed in a previous newsletter or the boiling method.
The cost of posting the wax to a foundation roller doesn't warrant any less than that to be processed. Rather, use the wax yourself to make a flat non-moulded sheet of wax in a baking tray in between two sheets of baking powder. The bees will do the rest once you place the sheets on the frames. Alternatively, place the cappings back inside the bee hive you took them from. Bees will redistribute it within 48 hours.
If you are a brand new beekeeper then get hold of a Blue book, or
