November Nectar Coming!

The Next Nectar flow is upon us!
Many crops that are fruit based have a secondary nectar flow when they flower after spring. Macadamian nuts are one of those and lemons are another... There are different times of flowering for different types of crops, orchards and even the bushveld. The trick is to choose apiary sites that offer a mixed variety of nectar sources with pollen if you can.
Our sites all offer a mixed source of pollen and nectar along with water resources in close proximity to the apiary site. Obviously we also keep to the by-laws as well.  We recommend you do to! Check them out on our site for your reference on By-Laws
Experts's advice
Our apiary site in Muldersdrift was not catching any trekking swarms. It was surprising as the two hived colonies we had on the site were rocking!
We nonetheless left our catch boxes out in the peach orchard (already with peaches that look awesome) resting on old pallets with 3 per pallet.
Our last apiary site visit here was just over 3 weeks ago. It produced very exciting results on the existing bee hives on site but nothing in the catch boxes. Then we had some rain.
As of Tuesday this week, our scheduled apiary visit proved to be good as we added a super chamber to our two existing colonies and they are pumping! Then we inspected the catch boxes on the field... Voila! We had caught 5 out of 15 catch boxes. Plus... two of them are so packed they need to be transferred to a complete langstroth bee hive.
