Experts's advice
Apimondia is in Brazil this year in September. It is a world expo on beekeeping.
As winter begins to subside and the nights begin getting shorter again, beekeepers should consider preparing for the upcoming spring season.
Ensure trap boxes are in good condition ready for the field and that you have bee bait such as raw honey, propolis and or old wax comb melted and painted on the inside of the trap box on the bottom bar of the frames. Linseed oil also works well too.
Simply paint or brush the oil, wax or propolis on 2 of the bottom bars and replace back inside your trap box. Repeat per catch box and then place the catch box in an elevated position, preferably where bees are already foraging from a flowering plant or tree.
