Our local Easy Buzzing bee course runs again on the 26th November near Lanseria airport.

This is the LAST Bee Course for 2011 as December everyone is away for the holidays and we get to take a break too! Don't miss out on the last opportunity to learn about beekeeping.

Experts's advice

THE Mpumalanga Apiary site visit resulted in a beaufitul harvest of Macadamian honey and very strong colonies now utilising the 300m river band on either side of the Crocodile River as food source.

All in all, although the rain has been late this year the bee season appears to be average to good!

The bee season has kicked off somewhat later this year than most but the trekking swarms split off are unusually big and large in numbers.

South African beekeepers have the benefit of catching swarming bees throughout the spring and summer seasons. Our bee hives are treated with a built-in lure for colonies.

As you begin harvesting honey consider our LOCALLY made Honey Extractor which takes 20 frames with a manual gear ratio of 4:1 fitted with a honeygate. Portable and lightweight weighing in at only 30Kg together. Price: R6500 for 20 frames. *See photo to the left*

If you dont have a bee suit you can rent one from us for R100 on the day. There are at least 90 minutes of practical work with bees where you will open a working bee hive and conduct a full inspection.

The Macadamias are flowering now again as well as some blue gum species! Focus on the crops flowering now to enhance your honey harvest yeild. Learn more on our bee course!
