   Bee  Ware
   Start Beekeeping with us!

April is officially our 10-Year Anniversary for Bee WARE & we plan to do some celebrating in the month of May!

How did we start?
My grandfather loved honey and only took the golden stuff in his tea and on toast. As a young boy I went to a nursery with him many times to get his tub refilled "from the tap."

Many years later my fascination piqued again when I was asked about researching beekeeping as a community development project in a local township.

What do we do?
We provide quality education, training, beekeeping equipment, protective wear and bee tools for beekeepers big and small alike! This includes hobby beekeepers and commercial beekeepers, crop farmers and fruit growers!

Let's Celebrate!
For the month of May we will be offering some great specials on selected products available online.

Be sure to check out the online store to participate in the celebrations of our 10 year anniversary!

Specials for our 10 Year Anniversary apply while stocks last on the items specified only & only for the month of May.

Queen bee in hive
Can you spot her? The queen bee [above] is the only fertile female in the Scutellata colony and therefore the only bee that can properly lay eggs of either male or female workers. The Cape worker is reproductive capable raising concern over the relocation into Scutellata territory!

  First Steps
    Keep reading articles, bee books
We will be sending you tips, articles and news about beekeeping that will help you to better understand the benefits of bees for all of us!
Our recommended first steps are that you get hold of the blue book, Beekeeping in South Africa which is available on our website by mail order or if you collect in Centurion.

Southern Hemisphere: Colonies should be foraging still on Cosmos in parts of RSA. It's a beautiful honey however not usually a single floral source honey.

Unless you have a full super of ripe honey do not harvest any honey from your colonies from now on. If you are fortunate enough to have aloes that are about to start flowering then you will get a winter  honey crop as well as a strong colony as the winter season comes to an end.

Northern Hemisphere help colonies to get going with the new nectar flows.

Jumpstart their collecting by feeding internally with a feeder frame or even use a makeshift super or deep super chamber which can keep sugar water in a compartment and soya with maizena in another to boost the bees coming our of winter season.
