   Bee  Ware
   Start Beekeeping with us!

It's vital to know other beekeepers and grow the skill's bank for beekeeping in SA and the world!

What to expect?

The Bee WARE shop in Centurion and our Dealers will be getting some hot new bee tools flying in to the store next week!

Everything is More!

Bee WARE will be stocking our 8-frame and 12-frame extractors again. They are reversible and programmable too! Variable speed electric motors that make extracting honey a breeze!

What else is coming?

We have a new style Hive tool called a "J-style" hive tool which says pretty much how it looks.

Bee WARE stocks spare leather bellows for bee smokers that have broken or torn after wear and tear. Replace the bellow unit and keep on puffing!

Refractometers are back in stock too. Limited Stock here so move fast if you want one.

The usual bee smokers, hive tools, bee brushes and new queen bee marking pens are available from next week too! Don't delay!

Pollen traps, 110Kg heating tanks with 1 inch ball valve taps, queen bee grafting feathers, and plastic frame feeders for internal feeding of bees.

The complete set of honey extractors starts off with a manual 3-frame and goes up to 4-frames, 6 frames and then the electric 8-frame and 12 frames too!

When harvesting and extracting honey using a centrifugal spinner the bees don't have to rebuild the comb! When you pace the "wet super" frames back onto the brood chamber the bees just refill it! This can take as little as just 7-days when there is a nectar flow on!

If you crush the honeycomb and drip extract it like in a top bar hive or without a honey extractor, the bees take up to 6 weeks to rebuild and fill again. In that time, a honey flow can come and go! Your bees have missed it! Which means you have too!

Honey tanks from 30kgs to 200kgs keep honey hygienic and within food handling standards!

Can you spot them? The queen bee cells [above] iare the only fertile female in the Scutellata colony and therefore the only bee that can properly lay eggs of either male or female workers. The Cape worker is reproductive capable raising concern over the relocation into Scutellata territory!

  First Steps
    Keep reading articles, bee books
We will be sending you tips, articles and news about beekeeping that will help you to better understand the benefits of bees for all of us!

Our recommended first steps are that you get hold of the blue book, Beekeeping in South Africa which is available on our website by mail order or if you collect in Centurion. *5 in stock*

Southern Hemisphere: When harvesting honey, it is best to uncap the comb with an uncapping roller or uncapping knife. We have both in stock at the shop.

Furthermore, for bees to build the honeycomb in the super chamber can take up to 6 weeks from scratch. This is usually also only possible with a strong brood after at least 8 weeks of them building from scratch.

By uncapping the comb and using a honey extractor to extract the honey without damaging the comb it allows the bees to just refill the comb rather than having to rebuild it and losing many weeks of nectar flow by having to rebuild first.

Northern Hemisphere it's cooling down. Autumn is here.

Make preparations to start protecting your colonies from the coming cold. Find late blooming flower locations to harness a last minute honey harvest.

Refrain from harvesting any honey at this time. The honey that is in the hives should remain as their food for the wintering period. Or you could feed your bees regularly with sugar water.
