Hello Friend,

Hi everyone. Bill Duvendack here, and I want to take a few minutes to talk about my upcoming book, Qliphothic Astrology, available to order with Become a Living God on July 16. You may sign up now to receive a free chapter.

Astrology has been a critical part of occultism since the earliest inception, dating back to Hellenistic times. For some of you, you may remember that the original three Arts of Hermeticism included astrology. Therefore, this tells us that astrology has been a part of occultism as long as there has been a codified occultism. Now, of course, magick has been around a lot longer than just the time of Hermeticism dating back approximately 2,300 years, but it has only been in the last 2,000 years that things have been codified and structured and brought together in what would become the roots of the Western Esoteric Tradition.

So when we're looking at astrology, we're looking at a foundational piece of occultism. Now what that also means is that, if we're looking at astrology, we are looking at the Western Esoteric tradition of occultism as well. And that's lost on a lot of astrologers. Astrology and occultism are tied together intrinsically, so to separate one from the other is a great disservice to the entirety of the Western Esoteric Tradition.

What this means with regard to to the upcoming book is that, if you are not familiar with astrology, now is the time to at least brush up on the fundamentals. I say that, because in the book there is a primer about astrology to teach you the basics that are necessary for the rest of the material in the book going forward.

So what does the book entail regarding astrology? The first thing that it entails is a brief history of astrology. We start off early in the text talking about the roots of astrology, and what cultures gave rise to this ancient science. Now, obviously this does not go into great depth and detail, but rather key points are hit so that you can understand the material later in the book. We'll look at the ancient Mesopotamian and ancient Sumerian civilizations as examples, and we will look at what they contributed to the overall body of knowledge that became astrology. We'll look at what influences they brought to the table to develop astrology, and we will look at how some of those practice are still in use today, not you in an astrological context, but also in an occultist context.

Then we will look at the division between astrology and occultism. Now for those of you that follow my work fairly closely, you'll know that over the last several years I have been harping on this point repeatedly, both in astrological circles and in occultist circles. To say that astrology is not a part of occultism is to show an incomplete and fractured understanding of occultism.

Now, by that same token, this is also true, which is that if you're an astrologer or you study astrology, and you're not an occultist, you're doing a disservice to your own flipping art. I'm fairly adamant about that last point, because from time to time I meet astrologers that don't believe in any of the branches of occultism, whether it's the Left Hand Path, the Right Hand Path, Paganism, I have some met some Christian astrologers before, and every time that I meet these people I'm left with that feeling that they really don't know what the hell they're talking about. Astrology was around before the church. As a matter of fact, the church still uses astrology to time rituals and events throughout the year, every flipping year. So to say that you are Jewish, or Christian, or Islamic, or Mormon, and you don't believe in astrology is to deny part of your spiritual heritage.

Now this is in addition to the fact that, in many countries, astrology is seen as a science. So you're denying science and you're denying your own spiritual heritage. That's just sad. I have no problem going on record and saying this. If you're an astrologer and you're not working with occultism you don't understand astrology. If you're an occultist and not working with astrology you don't understand occultism. And yes, I'm putting this in a recordable format, and I really don't care. Currently, which has been around for the last 100 years or so, there is a division between astrology and occultism. And it is my intent, through the majority of my workings of my life that this gap gets closed, because it's unhealthy for both camps. Now as I step off my soapbox I want to assure you that in the upcoming book we will discuss this decision and this division in depth, where it came from and how we can reconcile it for our own individual practices.

In addition to those two points there will also be a basic primer on astrology. I emphasize basic primer because it is not meant to be a one stop shop for teaching you astrology, but rather it gives you just enough astrology so that the latter parts of the book make sense, and you can apply it to your own path and your own work. For those of you that are familiar with my work, you know that my book, Astrology in Theory and Practice, covers a lot of the fundamentals and can greatly enrich Qliphothic Astrology. But I do want to give you assurance that in Qliphothic Astrology there will be a basic primer on astrology, so you don't have to feel like you're going to buy another book in order to understand this one. No, no, no, it's all contained in there. Now what separates this from a few other books on astrology is that we specifically looked at the Left Hand Path influences and perspectives when it comes to using astrology for your own ritual magick.

Finally, in the text we discuss the basic discussion on the astrology of the Qliphoth. Now, a lot of this is commonly known to people. So if you have ever seen a Qliphothic Tree that has the planetary symbols as the particular Qliphoth then you know what I'm talking about. That material will be in here, but in addition to it we will discuss the how's and the why's. We will discuss the correspondences, we will discuss the rhythms and the patterns that you find when you start working with this on a deeper level. And, even though this sounds like a lot of information that you'll be dealing with, this is all setting the stage for the latter part of the book. So we'll be building to a grand crescendo.

Now, ultimately, reading this and working with the material therein will lead you to the light of the Black Sun. And this is important to realize, because it will show you how to merge the two trees, it will show you how to merge astrology with occultism, and it will show you how to bring together the microcosm and the macrocosm that is so often talked about in the Western Esoteric tradition.

Finally, one of the subtle underlying themes of Qliphothic Astrology is the fact that it will be approaching things from a Draconian perspective. For those of you that are familiar with the Draconian tradition, I want to assure you that you will see its influence all throughout the texts, especially considering the fact that while I wrote it my partner in life and magick, Asimov Mason, participated in a lot of the rituals that we have the results of in the book. So there is not only the vibe of the Draconian tradition present, there is also the vibe of the Temple of Ascending Flight that you will find scattered throughout the pages.

Anyway, I think that's enough for now, but I just wanted to give you taste. Remember, Qliphothic Astrology comes out July 16, 2019 by myself, and it will be published through Become A Living God. Definitely sign up now to receive your free chapter on the Essential History of Astrology.
