Celebrate local economies Friday, May 14, is Grow Local Colorado Day, and, to celebrate, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Denver's homegrown national franchise, will donate half of all sales on Saturday, May 15, to the Grow Local Edible Garden in the Parks Project. The project is a partnership between the Grow Local Colorado Campaign and Denver Parks and Recreation that provides fresh produce for shelters and food banks from gardens at Civic Center, Berkeley, Highlands and Highlands Gateway parks. Broadway, a 4-year-old used bookstore specializing in science fiction, is closing its doors for good on May 30. Co-owner Sally Wright says the construction on South Broadway took its toll, and so did the Kindle. All in all, she says, "I guess it just wasn't meant to be." Books are priced at $1 (for paperbacks) to $8 (for hardbacks), and during the closing sale you get 40 percent off that, and they're half price if you buy 10 or more.
