Get your camera, your shorts, your umbrella and some sunscreen – and don’t forget the kids! It’s Memorial Day weekend in Colorado. Who cares what the weather might do? It’s time for some outdoor festivals! Sweet William Market returns to Stapleton On Saturday, May 30, Sweet William Market opens its fifth season in Stapleton’s Founder’s Park, East 29th Avenue and Syracuse Street, www.sweetwilliammarket.com, and it will continue there from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the last Saturday of the month through September. This juried open-air market, according to founder Kim Kouba, offers “an eclectic range of vintage and antique dealers, artisans and a bunch of those great new Etsy folks who have reinvigorated the cottage industry of traditional crafting with a hip, updated and upcycled take to their creations. There are lots of great finds for home and garden -- everything from furniture, vintage finds and linens, artisan pottery, outdoor sculpture and garden décor, not to mention original artwork. Then, of course, great personal items like, one-of-a-kind jewelry, apparel, handbags, gifts and even some lovelies for little ones.” Terrific music, great deals on Old South Gaylord Although the official start time for the 31st Annual Old South Gaylord Memorial Weekend Festival, www.southgaylordstreet.com, is 10 a.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday on the 1000 block of Denver’s South Gaylord Street, early birds and parents will be rewarded with daily 7 a.m. pancake breakfasts featuring a strolling magician offering balloon art. Later in the day, of course, there will be bands, culminating on Monday afternoon with the blues stylings of the Delta Sonics and the funky rock of Frogs Gone Fishin’. And turkey legs, and kiddy carnival rides, and samples of dip served on pretzel sticks. But don’t forget the stores. Many of the shopkeepers offer some of the year's best deals during the festivities. Participating shops include: Barbara & Co., 1067 S. Gaylord St., 303-751-2618, with discounts of 40 to 50 percent on early spring clearance items and coupons for discounts on future visits; Borderline Exotic Imports, 1010 S. Gaylord St., 303-733-6243, with a 25 percent discount on “David Yurmanesque” sterling silver jewelry from Mexico ranging from small hoop earrings, originally $45, for $34, to a gemstone-studded bracelet, originally $470, for $459; Sports Plus Resale Sports Equipment, 1055 S.
