Teachers love to bring the world into their classrooms with colorful wall hangings, beautiful ethnic art and other fun and evocative pieces by artisans representing distant cultures in faraway places. Often, they must reach into their own pockets to pay for such displays. In an effort to ease that burden, Ten Thousand Villages, a non-profit, fair trade store at 2626 E. Third Ave. in Cherry Creek North, 303-316-8773, is offering a 15 percent storewide discount through Aug. 31 to any educator who presents a valid Colorado teacher ID.
Bag bargains on Aurora’s Consignment Row
Little Tykes Trading Post, Celine’s fashions and Leta’s Loot home furnishings – the three consignment stores that comprise Aurora’s consignment row on the southwest corner of Chambers and Hampden – are all taking their bargains to the sidewalk on Saturday, July 31. At Little Tykes Trading Post, 720-870-7191, all the selected toys, clothing, books, shoes, movies and other children’s goods you stuff into a grocery bag are $5 – and there’s no limit on bags. At Leta’s Loot, 303-617-5668, the hundreds of home accessories are priced starting at $1, and those who shop from 9 to 10 a.m. get an additional 30 percent discount. Furniture displayed both on the sidewalk and in the store also is on sale.
