Volunteers work year-round to stitch the quilts sold to raise funds for the Tennyson Center for Children Summer Quilt Sale, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 17. They’re motivated by the knowledge that the Tennyson Center uses 100 percent of the proceeds to provide special education, residential treatment, day treatment, family counseling and other services to crisis-plagued children and families, including victims of abuse and/or neglect. Vintage quilts are 10 percent off, and handmade quilts from crib size to king size are available at the sale at Tennyson Center, just three blocks north of Sloans Lake at

Midsummer bargains abound
If you think of midsummer as the time to head for the great outdoors, take off those hiking boots and consider that it’s also a great time for shopping as summer clearances, outdoor festivals and sidewalk sales bring a plethora of al fresco bargains.
Studio Bini kids are cool even in July
Denver children’s clothing designer Linde Julien is celebrating her return to retail with a summer clearance at her 8-month-old store at 4020 Tennyson St., 720-255-2739, studiobini.com. Through July 31, all of Julien’s funky-yet-sophisticated spring and summer creations for infants and young children are reduced by as much as 50 percent.
Biggest sale of the year at Kid-to-Kid

Art flourishes on the Pearl Street Mall
More than 120 juried artists will be displaying and selling their wares at the 32nd Annual Boulder ArtFair, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, July 17, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 18 on the Pearl Street Mall from 10th to 16th streets. Reflecting on somber times
