Hi Friend,
Happy Friday! Hope you have some fun weekend plans. Ezra and I are headed to Men of Mystery in Irvine, CA, where Ezra will present, sell, and sign his Torah Codes series.
I have an update announcement for you, for current, former, and home study students of the Plan Your Novel course.
We're always updating our courses, and you have lifetime access to your course and all its updates.
And even if you don't have our Plan Your Novel home study course, this tool may be useful for you. Thanks to a student's request in the current Plan Your Novel live course, I created and uploaded a lesson on the "Character Relationship Map" in Week #2.
WHAT: In the planning stage, it’s helpful to think through how each of the main characters and secondary characters relate to each other throughout your novel.
This tool comes to us by way of the TV sitcom world. When TV writers plan out their series, season, and episodes, they map out the character relationships to track them. Unfortunately, the handouts I adapted from didn’t cite who created them.
WHY THIS TOOL IS IMPORTANT AND USEFUL: Stories are about how characters change as they pursue that all-important goal. They change because of external events, including the actions of other characters, and because of internal experience, decisions they make because of those external events.
Read the lesson to see how you can map out these relationships for yourself and get the map/grid handout. Please let me know what you think!
To access this new lesson, login into the school and click on "My Courses." Or go here and login:
