Your Favorite Book Opening:
Why It Works
As we've doing for a few calls, we'll analyze together one of your favorite authors to discover what works, how, and why it works.
Tools and items we'll discuss and use:
- Point of view (1st, 2nd, or 3rd person, and close/limited/omniscient)
- Who is the main character?
- What do they want?
- What is in their way?
- What is the setting? How do we know?
For this time, we have Beth and Nicole on deck.
Send ahead of time the first 100-200 words of your favorite author's novel -- in the genre you're working in or close to it -- so we can analyze together what you love about them. And integrate that awareness back into our creative process.

-- share next steps and announcements
NEXT: For May and June 2022, we'll analyze the first 100-200 words of each of your openings.
