As I said, I started thinking about writing a new series last summer. In between writing other books, I began jotting down notes on new characters, story lines, etc. Last September, I woke up in the middle of the night with a completely
different idea. It was to write a series about angels, about God's intervention in our lives.
I was so excited. The next morning, I told Mitchell that I changed my mind. I wanted to write about angels. He kind of gave me that look and mustered up a half-hearted "that sounds great honey."
I'll pause here to tell you that I love my husband dearly. We make a great team, and I couldn't do what I do without him, but he is not a fan of change. (And, we have more than enough to keep us busy. Haha.)
Despite his less-than-enthusiastic response, I was determined to push forward. I wanted to write about divine interventions, how God moves in our lives and sometimes we don't realize it until much later.
I know I'm rambling, but here's the best part.
We were up in the mountains, driving home in late October. I'm still talking about my "angel angle," with a twist on cozy (You'll understand when you meet the new characters and find out how they are brought together) and I'm flipping through the radio station.
I stopped on a Christian station. There was a guest speaker who was talking about...you guessed it - angels. (Mitchell had just finished reminding me I needed to be careful not to make the angels chubby little cherubs floating around on clouds.) Which is how the guest speaker started, by quoting Bible verses and explaining that angels are powerful beings, sent by God to intervene on our behalf. He ended his series, by sharing a
story of a man who attempted suicide by crashing his car and was saved by unknown beings he believed were angels.
By then, I had already come up with the prologue to "Divine Intervention," Raylene's near death experience! I got chills. Mitchell looked at me and said something along the lines of me having a confirmation. So...that is how my "Divine" series was born.
Having said all of that, this series is not ALL about angelic encounters. As I started writing, it became more of a series about second chances, how God uses us in the lives of others, to make a difference. So, it is more about helping others, WITH a little "Divine Intervention," and of course, mysteries, along the way! ❤
