Subject: (Video) - Coin Collecting Updates - new coins & old coins...
Hey Friend
It's going to be another interesting week for coin collecting!
New $2 Coin...
There is a new $2 coin being released this coming Thursday - the "purple poppy" to commemorate the animals who served us in the wars. I haven't got an image of the coin yet (it's still under embargo), but there is a RAM ballot on Wednesday and dealers are going to have this one in stock.
Apparently the mintage is 100,000 for the C-mintmark coin, so it should be easier to get hold of (fingers crossed) than some of the other recent releases. There is also a silver proof version with a mintage of 7,500. Make sure to contact your favourite dealer if you want to confirm a copy.
New Coins In Circulation...
The 2024 standard design coins have started appearing in circulation, so make sure to keep an eye out for these in your change:
People have been finding the 2024 standard design coins across Australia. These are the 6 standard design coins with King Charles III on the obverse/heads side. They're the same coins that were in the RAM set, but as that set costs $40, it's nice to find a few copies of these coins at face value!
Likewise, the NAIDOC Fifty Cent is also out in circulation - many people are finding them in their change from retailers.
AFL coins - which set it better?
With the AFL grand final this weekend, I've had a few people ask me to compare the 2023 AFL set with the 2024 set, so I've put together a video for you showing the coins side-by side.
I think that the 2024 set is an improvement on the first year, but for more info just press Play on the Video:
Which set did you prefer?
In the meantime, have a great weekend, enjoy the grand final if you're watching it, good luck in your coin hunting and of course keep using cash.
Cheers
Damian
