When I created the treasure hunt for Australian Coins a few years back, there was one giant problem - no matter how many coins you find, if you don't know what to look for, you could literally end up giving away valuable coins worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

So I wanted to make sure that not only can you find lots of coins - you would know which ones are rare, valuable and/or suit your collection.

I did some research to find the best information for you, but there was nothing which had details of all the coins in circulation, plus the errors and the retail coins (such as the coins from Woolworths and Australia Post).

While you can find this information in different places there is no single place I could send you with all these details.

Worse yet, it's really hard to find up-to-date information.

So I made it my mission to put together a guide for you with every possible coin in circulation, plus valuable errors to look for and keep it up to date. Because it's a treasure hunt, it seemed like a good idea to call it "The Pirate Guide for Australian Coin Collecting".
