Subject: Coin Collecting Update - New Bluey and Olympic Coins Update!🐕

AustraliaCoins.org

Hey Friend

Well, it's finally happening - the worst kept secret in coin collecting will be officially unveiled next week. On Monday (September 2) Australia Post will start their Bluey coin promotion.

While there has already been so much press about these coins, there is no official reveal of the coin images. The images below are from the Stamp Bulletin (number 391).

Here's what you need to know...

1. Tube and Folder:
- Like all Australia Post coin promotions, there will be a tube to buy with a folder.
- The tube contains 10 coins ($29 per tube).
- One in ten tubes contains a coloured version of the Bluey coin.
- All of the coins are One Dollar coins.
- All of the coins have King Charles' effigy.
- I don't believe there are privy marks on the coins in the tube.

2. Circulated coins:
- Only two of the ten coins are actually going into circulation (like the AFL coins).
- These two coins will be available in change for the month of September when you pay cash at Australia Post.

3. Single coins to buy:
- You can buy any of the ten non-coloured coins as single coins ($10 each).
- However, the single coins have an envelope privy mark on them.
- So, there are two version of the ten coins - one with privy mark and one without.

4. Proof coins:
- This is something new for 2024 and I love it!
- They are selling proof-coin versions of the coloured coin.
- The proof coin is actually a nicer coin than the coloured coin in the tube.
- There are 2 different proof coins - regular proof and silver proof.
- The bad news is that the silver proof will probably sell out fast on Monday.

5. Other Bluey coin products
- Australia Post is also selling Bluey stamps, Bluey PNCs and other Bluey merchandise.
- The PNCs also have the privy-mark version of the coins.

I have no idea how popular these coins will be, but if you're after any of the specific coins/tubes/PNCs/etc, it's worth talking to your local post office today or tomorrow and asking them to put them aside for you.

They will also be available on Australia Post's website on Monday morning and possibly the RAM's as well. Dealers will have the tubes, but I'm not sure about the other products.

Other coin news...
As one coin promotion starts, the other winds up.

The fourth and final coin from the Olympic promotion is now available at face value from Woolworths. It's the Paralympics coin with Lizzie the Lizard playing "Goal Ball":

This is the same coin that was available to buy for $8 from Australia Post/RAM last month.

The coin is in Woolworths cash registers and (some) self service checkouts for the next two weeks.

I tend to find that the Woolworths coins are available for about a month after the promotion, so all four Olympic coins should still be out there. In fact, it's easier to ask staff for them once the hype disappears.

Happy hunting, make sure to use cash and keep your sense of humour - this is going to be an interesting month.

As always, please feel free to reply with any questions, or if you have any interesting discoveries!

Cheers

Damian
