Subject: Coin Collecting News and Some Important Warnings

Hey Friend

What a week! The Aussie coin world has been crazy these last few days. Ok, crazier than normal. Haha

As you probably know, Australia Post released their 'Aussie Big Things' set this week. There are 10 coins and these coins are available either at face value, or you can buy them in a tube. The promotion lasts for 3 more weeks (September is 'Collecting Month').

I've put all the details about the big things coins in this video:

“Aussie Big Things Coins Video

After watching the video:
Something to be wary of - if you're buying a 'sealed tube' from an individual (i.e. not Australia Post or a dealer), be mindful that people are buying boxes of ten tubes to guarantee getting the coloured cod coin. One in ten tubes has the coloured coin, so this is a good way to guarantee getting the coloured coin. They open tubes until they find the coloured coin and then sell the rest as 'sealed sets'. It's perfectly legal, but if you're buying a tube hoping to find the coloured coin, be mindful of this.

In other coin news:
The Royal Australian Mint released a $5 World Heritage coin this week.

This coin seems to be more popular than concert tickets for Metallica and Taylor Swift combined with flying lessons from Tom Cruise! It's a beautiful coin, but lots of people are REALLY upset at missing out.

Unfortunately, many of the dealers' websites with this coin for sale were hit in a coordinated 'bot-attack'. Basically these 'bots' go and make lots of purchases and get around the purchase-limits of one-per-customer. It means that the coins get 'sold out' really fast and many dealers had to spend the day cancelling these bot orders manually, after removing the coin from their sites.

Likewise, the RAM's phone centre was flooded with calls, and it couldn't cope with the demand, so many people just couldn't get through on phones either.

However, if you are still looking for this Heritage coin, some dealers may still have it available. The coin is unlikely to appear on their websites, so give them a call.

I hope you have luck in finding the coins you are after, and have a great weekend!

Cheers

Damian
