Hey Friend, its your coach, Katya!
On June 9, I was driving to check out the Cape Meares lighthouse and the road was closed.
I had been driving a couple of hours straight west from Portland and could see the ocean from the turnoff so instead of turning around I decided to keep driving down the road that was open which happened to end right at the shore.
...and I’m so glad I did.
I saw the cliffs meet the water.
I walked across the smooth, perfectly carved stones.
As I walked out towards the cliff it was low tide and I could see all of the little sea creatures.
There were barnacles and anemones, sea stars, mussels and probably a dozen other creatures that I couldn’t name.
I walked closer and closer to the cliff and was overcome by the grandiosity of this life-filled microcosm.
Honestly, words don’t really do justice to this perfect corner of the world.
What I can say is that at that moment, I fell in love.
I fell in love with that perfect corner.
Looking at it from my car was one thing…
Getting up close and all up in it, was entirely another.
...And as these things do it got me thinking about how this would make a great post about love.
If we want real love, we have to love all of IT!
As I edged closer and closer to that majestic cliff…
The stones got more jagged…
The sea urchins that would have stung me had they been stepped on, unnoticed.
It started raining and the temperature dropped.
The ocean was cold and uninviting.
But it didn’t matter.
That place embodied divinity and I was all in… the cold, wet, and the ugly.
I was excited to play in its diversity.
Challenged by it.
What if we related to lovers like this?
Would divinity be available to us?
What if we...
can love and accept the pristine and the jagged.
love - up close and zoomed in - just as much as we can from afar.
abstain from categorizing that high-tide is better than low-times.
Because there's no such thing as perfect when it comes to love.
Nature is a great mirror for us in this way.
Perfection is created in our acceptance and our continued appreciation of what already is.
Enjoy love!
with gratitude,
Katya |
