Monday, the Moon remains in creative, sensitive Pisces all day. This Moon placement often finds us more sensitive, intuitive, idealistic, and imaginative than usual.
New Moons mark the ending and beginning of a monthly cycle and are therefore an optimal time to pause, reflect, and set new Intentions for the next 28 days.
This New Moon is another SuperMoon (the third of four Super New Moons in a row). These occur when the Moon is at its closest distance to the Earth (at the time of a New or Full Moon) and are more powerful. This means greater awareness of the issues connected to the particular New Moon energy in question.
Since this one occurs in Pisces, this Super New Moon invites us to connect with our inner divinity and ability to receive, trust our intuition, and contribute to life from a heart-centered and empathic place.
This New Moon chart has four planets in Pisces — that includes the Sun, the Moon, Neptune, and Venus; Neptune, the ruler of Pisces, is closely aligned with Venus. Venus and Pluto are both in 29º of their signs, which is an exalted degree!
The New Moon trines the South Node in Scorpio, making it easier for us to release traumas from the past and allow ourselves to feel whatever needs to be felt.
Mercury in Aquarius is the planet most aspected in this Super New Moon chart. It trines Mars in Gemini, sextiles Chiron in Aries, and squares Uranus in Taurus. All of this will bring an opportunity for greater healing, individually and collectively speaking. I will go into all of this in more detail in a moment, but first, let’s talk about the Pisces energy:
Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac and thus connects us to our spiritual journey, as it represents a reunion with Source/God/the Universe. At its highest vibration, Pisces unifies all dualities — it is completely aware of the oneness of all. It tells us there is a union within that exists always and that we can tap into it.
Pisces is accepting and aware of both its temporal and its eternal nature; it understands that we are both singular in nature and also an inseparable part of the universe. It lovingly allows all because it knows separation is an illusion (or conditioning at best) — that separation only exists in the mind.
At its densest expression, however, Pisces feels separate, fearful, and victimized. It wants to escape the harsh physical realities of this world.
We get trapped in this lower vibration when we don’t go within to connect with our inner divinity, when we don’t rest enough, when we can’t trust ourselves — our inner processes and intuitive Selves.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or any personal planets) in the following: 0-4 degrees of Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, or 29 degrees of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo, or Scorpio? If so, you may feel the effects of this New Moon more strongly for the next 28 days. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer (the Sun rules Leo; the Moon rules Cancer).
The New Moon is also the best time to set powerful intentions for this month’s Moon cycle. This is best done soon after the New Moon becomes exact — and definitely not during a Moon void of course phase — so this month, the best time to set intentions would be between 2:06am on Feb. 20th and 11:06pm on Feb. 21st and then again from 12:14am until 2:06am on Feb. 22nd (New York-time)
Also, on Monday very early morning at 2:56am EST, Venus changes signs from intuitive, creative, dreamy Pisces to fast-paced, enthusiastic, active Aries, where it will journey until March 16th.
Until March 16th, we are going to feel passionate about connecting with others. We are ready to make a new start: if you are single, this could be a great chance to start something new (all things being equal).
With Venus in Aries, spontaneity and independence are important to us. You’re not the only one who likes a challenge, so don't make it too easy for others to win you over.
If you are already in a committed relationship, you get a wonderful chance to bring freshness and excitement to your bedroom and "other parts of the house". We also have more energy than usual; we are more likely to want to get out of the house and be active with others.
All this is especially true if you are a Taurus, Libra, or Aries Sun-sign or Rising sign. As an Aries, beauty and love will enter your life during this time, you will feel more attractive, and you will attract things to you. As a Taurus or Libra, you will feel more energized, passionate, and more than usually direct.
Monday late morning, an opportune Mercury/Chiron aspect becomes exact at 11:59am EST. We started to feel this aspect build last Saturday evening (Feb. 18th); it will remain strong until this Tuesday evening. We have an opportunity to bring healing energy to our concrete minds and to our thoughts. We also have a chance to heal insecurities in our verbal, in-person, social media, or email interactions.
We are better able now to tune out that automatic/critical inner voice in favor of more loving and compassionate structures for thinking and communicating. By bringing love and understanding to our thinking processes, we have a chance to move beyond entrenched habits like "impatient self-talk" or the use of aggressive language (swear words, for example).
Here are a few good “chew toys” for your mind at this time: What was your family's attitude towards communication? Toward speaking up for yourself? What if you tried a kinder approach for a bit? Does your inner dialog really have to repeat what they said when you were 3 or 5 years old? What if you tried using a gentler voice for the next ten minutes or so?
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 11-15 degrees of Aquarius, Aries, Gemini, or Sagittarius? If so, you may be more aware of this opportunity. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini or Virgo (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo).
