| | ABOUT SELECTS SELECTS is the Westport Arts Center's summer member exhibition. The exhibition will be on view from July 14 through September 1, 2017.
Submissions are due by June 27, 2017. The jurors stated, "It's our great honor to serve as the jurors for SELECTS. As in past years, the 2017 show will surely boast the great talents and artistry of the Westport Arts Center's impressive membership. In reviewing submissions, we'll be looking for work in a range of media where the execution is well-considered. We welcome traditional subject matter, but we are particularly interested in the expression of ideas - both representational and abstract. We look forward to seeing what themes may emerge." The summer member exhibition has historically featured esteemed jurors including Douglas Hyland, Former Director of the New Britain Museum of American Art (NBMAA) in New Britain, (SOLOS 2016), Richard Klein, Exhibitions Director of The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, and Patricia Hickson, the Emily Hall Tremaine Curator of Contemporary Art at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford. Last year, the summer member exhibition (SOLOS 2016) generated a highly competitive pool of talent from across the nation, and only a select few were juried in to participate. SELECTS will feature up to ten artists. You must be a member, or become a member, to be eligible for submission. The entry fee is $40/artist and $25 for young artists (ages 25 and under). Full submission guidelines are available on westportartscenter.org. The Arts Center will notify all artists on June 30, 2017. For any questions on eligibility, submission guidelines or the upcoming exhibition, please contact the Westport Arts Center at 203.222-7070 or visit westportartscenter.org.
