| | | | NEXT FUNDING BOOSTER SESSION WED. AUGUST 9, 10AM (Date changed from Aug. 2) Jessica Morozowich + Introducing Penny Cook Includes section on Artists Respond Grant
The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County’s Funding Booster program is free and open to all members, including artists. The program is designed to help all grant writers, including artists, from beginners to seasoned veterans, learn new skills, and burnish old ones, in order to be as successful as possible in all their grant writing ambitions.

When you have registered for the program then you can register for our next meeting, Wednesday August 9 at 10am on Zoom here.
On the Agenda for Aug. 9, apart from your own questions will be a focused look at the ARTISTS RESPOND grants for artists (see below) and the Suporting ARts grants for organizations.
Development consultant Jessica Morozowich will answer your questions and tackle any grant writing issues you currently have. She will also introduce and walk us through our revised local funders spreadsheet. We'll also introduce Penny Cook who will be taking over from Jessica from September onwards.

| | | | | NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS
The Artists Respond grant program awards funds to Connecticut artists for community-based art projects.
Connecticut artists may apply for a grant of $3,000 to support artist fees and project related expenses.
Artists Respond Projects: - should thoughtfully engage the community where the project takes place.
- should consider social issues and current events that are significant to this community.
- serve as a Call to Action and be responsive to the social issue identified by the artist/applicant.
- use the arts to advance community conversations.
- must occur in Connecticut and be initiatives led by the artist/applicant. Artists may partner with organizations (nonprofits, business, etc), but the project may not be an extension of the organization's work
The Artists Respond program will invest in wide range of community-based projects from large audience events to small group activities.

| | | | The Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA) is seeking at least ten (10) emerging teaching artists who will participate in a paid ($1,000) professional development training program that serves older adults (55+)
COA will provide best practice strategies for working in the field of creative aging. The emerging teaching artists will shadow mentor teaching artists in 8 session programs which will deliver sequential learning and active engagement for older adults.
Teaching artists are individual practicing artists who specialize in teaching both in the classroom and in the community. The passion and commitment, experience, knowledge and skills that teaching artists bring to the classroom and to the community help to engage students (of all ages) in authentic arts and arts integrated learning, and to advance creative and critical thinking. While teaching artists are teaching partners, there is no requirement for teaching artists to be certified teachers.
Eligibility Applicants must be a Connecticut artist and: o 18 years or older o able to provide proof of primary residency in Connecticut o lawfully permitted to work in the United States o available to travel and participate in the in-person 8 session program. Programs will take place between September 15 and December 15, 2023.

| | If you know a U.S.-based* visual artist ages 16-25 with disabilities+ encourage them to apply for our 2023-2024 VSA Emerging Young Artist Program before applications close on Friday, August 18. Fifteen winning artists will each receive a $5,000 award, have one of their submitted pieces travel in a year-long national exhibition, and engage in an all-expenses-paid professional development workshop at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. February 26-29, 2024. This year we're asking artists to consider the theme: "Interchange". Explore the connection of different ideas and pathways to each other. How does your art interact with your disability identity and the world? How are you initiating dialogue with others? Learn more about the program on our website.
+Disability is a broad umbrella that covers a variety of lived experiences. Eligible artists have visible, physical, and/or sensory conditions as well as less visible conditions like anxiety, ADHD, depression, chronic illness/pain, PTSD, OCD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, neurodivergence, and more.
