BLACK WOMEN ARTISTS MATTER
The next in our monthly series of interview shows on WPKN 89.5 FM, Spotlight on Arts & Culture, will introduce us to three black women artists who are members of the Cultural Alliance: Tara Blackwell Alicia Cobb, and Shanna Melton. Catch the show on 89.5 FM or WPKN.org on Mon. July 13, 12pm.

Scott Glaser is leaving us! As a result of the combination of COVID-19 and having the rest of his family in Rhode Island, he and his wife are packing up their belongings (300+ boxes) and heading north, eventually to take on the RI art scene. We'll miss his humor (though we will still have his cute animal Facebook videos) and wish him the best of luck!
Joanie Landau will be exhibiting her work at the Gallery at the Pearl restaurant, located in Longshore Park, Westport. Joanie works in collagraphs, "a rather obscure form of printmaking." Each of her pieces begins with original photography and usually multiple images are used to form a piece. She loves working with saturated color as well as starkly contrasting black and whites and very often does a study of the same piece in all its beautiful transformations. Like printmaking, the process possesses magical qualities. This show will focus on "POSITIVITY: love, hope, and kindness during these very tumultuous times." Pictured is her “Ode to Robert Indiana: Love Version1.

The performance combines NEW excerpts from two of Amy's award-winning original one-woman musicals, "Passageways: Songs of Connection, Abnormal & Sublime" and her first Broadway World-nominated "Best Theatre Debut" work, "Gutless & Grateful."

WHAT'S NEXT? 18 TRENDS THAT WILL MOVE THE ART WORLD FORWARD

In consultation with art world professionals—artists, dealers, curators, museum administrators—ARTnews identified dynamics and ideas on the horizon, some with trajectories tracing into the past, others more sudden in origination. A full survey of what's on the horizon is presented in the Summer 2020 issue. In addition to predictions already evident during the pandemic, such as the art market will expand online and performance art will go virtual, other less obvious trends are taking place as well. Art and science will come together and more and more institutions are following similar lines to devise scientific endeavors in increasingly ambitious ways. Collective endeavors and collaborations will be the way forward, providing unique opportunities for both artists and institutions. The survey also predicted that artists will become nonexclusive, leaving mega-galleries behind, and museums will become fully multilingual.  Full ARTnews article...
