Brian Whelan's "What Was He Thinking?" explores what Jesus was thinking when he rode into town on a donkey and in effect thwarted the expectations of his followers. Many thought the saviour was going to come into town on a white charger, troops at his side, covered in armour, golden crown on his head prancing his steed on a red carpet, but Jesus went the other way. He rode a simple donkey. Was Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem a lampoon of Roman might? An dry ironic gesture? All this of course made more poignant by what happened next. www.brianwhelan.co.uk

HOW ARTISTS CAN LEAD A RECOVERY

An article in Bloomberg reveals information about a report that recommends a roadmap for policy changes that are needed to become a nation that values the cultural sector and benefits from the innovation and imagination of creative people. These changes include 1) bringing artists into policy and legislation, especially recovery efforts and 2) understanding how creative work happens. The study states that artists create experiences that connect us to agency and power, and that we are in a moment when we urgently need artists, culture bearers and creative workers who can help us envision and build a future of justice, health and wholeness.
