Subject: from the Director's Desk

October 19, 2023

Dear Artists, Creatives, and Community leaders,

I am honored to serve you all as the new Executive Director of the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County. When I think about the best of Fairfield County, I think of the creatives who help add color to our community. The people whose artistry adds color everywhere we look: our sidewalks, our classrooms, our galleries, our community centers, and so many more spaces. As we fall forward into a season of gratitude, I offer you all what you have offered me: warmth and a sense of community.

I knew this role would strengthen my leadership skills, but I took it because I wanted to leverage my creative senses and immerse myself in a creative community. As my first month in this role draws near, I have been able to do that and more, and we are just getting started! I look forward to meeting more of you in your spaces and neighborhoods. Please be patient with me as I make my way around the county.

You all are exactly who you know yourselves to be, and my goal is to continue to nurture the values of this organization that has drawn hundreds of creative people and organizations across Fairfield County into its fold.

Stay warm. Stay well. And stay creative.

In community,

Erika K. Wesley
Executive Director

Connecticut artists may apply for a grant of $3,000 to support artist fees and project related expenses.

Artists Respond Projects:

  • should thoughtfully engage the community where the project takes place.

  • should consider social issues and current events that are significant to this community.

  • serve as a Call to Action and be responsive to the social issue identified by the artist/applicant.

  • use the arts to advance community conversations.

  • must occur in Connecticut and be initiatives led by the artist/applicant. Artists may partner with organizations (nonprofits, business, etc), but the project may not be an extension of the organization's work.
