JANE'S WALK, Bridgeport Sat. May 5, 3pm Bridgeport Public Library Choose one of 2 walks and 2 bike tours Afterwards convene at Harlan Haus.
The walk is one local celebration of International Jane's Walk, celebrating the life, achievements and insights of urban activist and author Jane Jacobs - most famous for her book the Death and Life of Great American Cities and the three battles she won with notorious New York City Parks Commissioner Robert Moses.
Jane's Walks are designed to help you explore and discover what makes a city work, connect with neighbors and contribute to thoughtful conversations about creative, community-driven city building.
In Bridgeport, start the Jane’s Walk Day with a briefing at 3pm in the Bridgeport Public Library on Jane Jacobs and her impact on citizen-centered urban design, and the key role that neighborhoods play in the quality of city life.
Then join one of four one-hour tours of downtown Bridgeport: two by foot, two by bike, organized by Bridgeport Downtown Special Services District along with partners bikeport co-op, Bridgeport Generation Now, Urban Bike Tours of Bridgeport, and the Cultural Alliance. Afterwards, convene at Harlan Haus to schmooze and debrief. |
