| | CT CARES SMALL BUSINESS GRANT PROGRAM APPLICATIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED Sole Proprietors, Independent Contractors are eligible!
OFFICE HOUR TODAY 12-1pm |
| The Connecticut CARES Small Business Grant Program is now open for businesses and nonprofits (including independent contractors) in Connecticut. Applicants can receive a one-time grant of $5,000. All funding will be disbursed by the end of December and will not require repayment. The grant can be used for rent, payroll, utilities, inventory or complying with the CT Reopen Business Sector Rules. Full details including eligibility requirements, a schedule for virtual office hours, FAQs, other resources, and the application can be found here. The $50 million program, funded from Connecticut’s portion of the federal CARES Act, will provide aid to small businesses and nonprofits that continue to be negatively impacted by COVID-19. The grant application will only be available for a limited time. We anticipate closing the application by 5:00 p.m., Thursday, November 19, 2020 but this is highly dependent on demand. Apply as soon as possible.
Advice from Windham Chamber of Commerce: Any small business that was registered as a business by October 1, 2019 and has had a loss of 20% or more in revenue, with under 20 employees SHOULD APPLY!
Sole Proprietors, Independent Contractors are eligible! If you are an artist or a nonprofit that applied for and received a CT CARES ART Grant thru the COA, you are not eligible (this is all the same pot of money). However, if you received a PPP, EIDL or other COVID assistance you will be able to apply for this grant and use this money to pay eligible expenses that are NOT the same as what you used the other grant money to pay for earlier in the year.
The application is VERY simple. THIS IS THE EASIEST GRANT APPLICATION YOU WILL EVER COMPLETE IN YOUR LIFE! DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED if you applied for others and did not receive them. This grant is designed for the very smallest of our small businesses and aimed at helping those that did not receive money at the beginning of the pandemic. If you have the information ready this will take you about 5 MINUTES!
You will be asked basic information about your business and a series of qestions about your eligibility. You should have your legal name, EIN and state tax ID available. The grant will be disbursed electronically to your bank account so you will need your bank's routing number and the bank account you want the deposit made to.
To prepare you should do the following: - look at your revenues from the first three quarters of 2019 and compare them to the first three quarters of 2020. If your revenue is 20% or more less this year, you are eligible.
- You will be asked to list what eligible expenses you will use the money for and how much you will spend for each. "Input all of the Company's eligible expenses that were incurred or will be incurred from 3/1/2020 thru 12/30/2020. Eligible expenses cannot include expenses that have been reimbursed by other sources such as PPP, EDIL, DECD Bridge Loan, insurance proceeds or any other source. The eligible expenses must be at least $5,000 in order to qualify for this grant."
- Your expenses must total $5000 or more.
Eligible expenses include and you will need to calculate: payroll, rent or mortgage, utilities, inventory, purchase of Machinery/Equipment, reopening costs for your business. |
