Kartika Masam
November 14 - Dec 12, 2023

Om Tatpurushaya Vidmahe,
Mahadevaya Dhimahi,
Tanno Rudra Prachodayat

We are thrilled to welcome you to the auspicious month of Kartika Masam, a divine period that holds immense significance in our spiritual journey. Let us immerse ourselves in the sacredness of Kartika Masam and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva for good health, mental balance, and profound meditations.

Kartika Masam, which corresponds to the Indian lunar calendar and typically falls during late October to early December in the Gregorian calendar, is the most auspicious month for worshiping Lord Shiva. This sacred time offers a unique opportunity to connect with the divine and harness His grace.

Amma's Guidance

As we embark on this spiritual journey during Kartika Masam, here are some essential observances and practices to enhance your connection with the divine:

Early Morning Meditation: Wake up during the sacred Brahmi Muhurta time, between 3:30 AM and 4:30 AM, to tap into the cosmic energy that permeates the atmosphere. Your meditations during this time will be exceptionally powerful.

Somavaram (Monday) Significance: Mondays during Kartika Masam hold immense importance for worshiping Lord Shiva. Wearing white cotton or silk attire on these days attracts the positive energy of the moon (Soma).

Chanting Mantras: Dedicate time to chanting powerful mantras such as the Shiva Panchakshari Mantra ("Om Namah Shivaya") or the Shiva-Sakti Panchakshari Mantra ("Om Hrim Namah Shivaya") either 108 or 1008 times.

Sri Mrutyunjaya Mantra:
Use this auspicious time to chant the Sri Mrutyunjaya Mantra for healing and well-being. It is a potent mantra to overcome diseases and health challenges.

Silence and Fasting:
Consider practicing silence, fasting, or consuming light, sattvic (pure) food during Kartika Masam for added spiritual benefits.

Siva Lingam Puja:
If you have a Siva Lingam, perform puja by offering water, flowers, vibhuti, milk, yogurt, ghee, sugar, and honey while chanting mantras.

Rudra Abhishekam:
If you are familiar with chanting the Rudram, participating in Rudra Abhishekam in the evenings during Kartika Masam is exceptionally powerful.
