Hard to believe Route 66, the road that shaped America, is turning 100 years old in 2026! There’s no better place to celebrate its Centennial Birthday than at the Heart of Route 66 — Amarillo, Texas.

In a countdown to the Centennial, celebrations will kick off this year with the Texas Route 66 Festival happening June 1-10, 2023. The ten days will be packed with must-see and do activities along the route, complete with car shows, Texas Route 66 bus tours, parades, and a grand finale festival on Amarillo's Route 66 Historic District.

Don Harrington Discovery Center

PPHM has more than two million artifacts.

Texas Musical Drama

Amarillo Little Theatre

Cadillac Ranch

The granddaddy of all roadside art and a Route 66 icon, with 10 Cadillacs buried nose down in a field just west of Amarillo. Visits are free, but remember to bring spray paint!
