Speaking up for Human Rights Through Film

Almudena Carracedo, Emmy-award-winning filmmaker and director of The Silence of Others will be speaking on the topic of "Speaking up for Human Rights Through Film". Come listen at West Texas A&M University's Classroom Center 310 on March 4th at 3 PM.

Peter and the Starcatcher

This Tony-winning play upends the century-old story of how a miserable orphan comes to be The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up. Marauding pirates, jungle tyrants, unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes combined with ingenious stagecraft and the limitless possibilities of imagination will bring this story to life! Join the Amarillo Little Theatre on March 4th at 7:30 PM, March 5th and 6th at 8 PM, and March 7th at 2:30 PM.

Lunch + Learn Film Screening: State of the Art

On March 5th join the Amarillo Museum of Art for this free event! Lunch will begin at 12 PM and will be free for the first 50 people. The film will begin at 12:15 PM. Attendees are invited to view the gallery before and after the film.

2020 Restaurant Roundup

On March 5th from 5 to 9 PM, head out to the Amarillo Tri-State Exposition's Rex Baxter Building for this delicious event! This event includes food and a wine tasting event that includes a live chef competition, over 50 booths, and a live band. Tickets are $40 and all proceeds will go to local charities, scholarships, and high school culinary classes.

Crafts and Drafts

Join the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum on March 6th for a fun evening of food, crafts, and draft beer samples. If you like beer themed food, trivia, and think the idea of playing corn hold in a museum sounds fun then this event is for you! Expect to get hands-on with DIY projects, enjoy food from many different local restaurants, show off your trivia skills, and hear from the Panhandle beer brewing community. This is a 21+ event and tickets are $40.

806 Rage Yoga

This different approach to yoga has been said to "involve a little bit of extra chaos and a sense of humor". Come feel empowered, work through what's holding you back, enjoy great beer, and yoga-out to heavy guitar riffs at Six Car Pub and Brewery on March 7th at 10 AM.

Kicker Areanacross

The AMA National Championship Round will be held at the Amarillo Tri-State Exposition on March 7th at 7:30 PM. Don't miss the high-flying action as these racers show their talent on the track.

WTAMU Distinguished Lecture Series

Mark Forgy is archivist, curator, sole heir, and estate manager for artist Elmyr de Hory. He manages over 300 works from the artist’s estate. He is author of "The Forger’s Apprentice: Life with the World’s Most Notorious Artist" (2012), and co-author of two-stage productions on de Hory performed in Minnesota. At the event, a book signing and reception will take place on March 9th at the West Texas A&M Fine Arts Complex from 5:30 to 6:00 which will be followed by a lecture about Elmyr de Hory.

Vanessa German: In a Fit of Glory

The Amarillo Museum of Art is displaying this new exhibit until April 5th. Vanessa German is an American sculptor, painter, writers, activist, performer, and poet based in Pittsburgh. German is a self-described citizen artist, and explore the power of art and love as a transformative force in the dynamic cultural exosystem of communities and neighborhoods.

The Harmon and Harriet Kelley Collection of African American Art: Works on Paper

The Amarillo Museum of Art presents one of the most comprehensive traveling exhibitions ever organized featuring works on paper by African American artists from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. Don't miss this amazing collection on display until March 29, 2020.

Native Lifeways of the Plains

This exhibit showcases the material culture of the indigenous people of the Great Plains. Among the key artifacts featured are Quanah Parker’s headdress and lance, the Kiowa calendar, and a recently conserved breastplate dating circa 1880. Select pieces from the museum’s art and photographic collections are included to help contextualize the objects within the scope of traditional lifeways. See this exhibit during regular museum hours until May 2020.

Amazing Butterflies

Embark on a challenging journey teeming with friends and foes revealing the unusual relationship between caterpillars, butterflies, and their natural surroundings. Enter the interactive maze through the huge monarch caterpillar tunnel.
