Tangled Lights

Are you wanting to see Christmas lights dance to music? Come see Tangled Lights Productions at 11816 Flying W Trail! This free show plays every 30 minutes from 7 PM until Midnight each night.

Hockey Game

On December 31st, January 3rd, and January 4th, head over to the Amarillo Civic Center Complex at 7:05 to cheer on the Amarillo Bulls! Tickets are $14 for adults and $9 for children under 12.

Noon Years Eve

Join the Don Harrington Discovery Center on December 31st from 9:30 AM to 1 PM, as they count down to the new year with science experiments, demonstrations, and two prize-filled balloon drops during their annual Noon Year's Eve Celebration. There will be dynamic science demos, crafts, ginger ale and cookies, fun exhibits, and TWO giant balloon drops as they count down to 12 noon!

First Day Mindfulness Hike

Celebrate International Peace Day with a hike in nature! This serene walk along the Kiowa Trail will take you through the bountiful nature of Palo Duro Canyon. Learn how to ground yourself in the wilderness with mindful breathing exercises and short stops to open your senses to the outdoors. For this hike, meet at the Mack Dick Pavilion parking lot in Palo Duro Canyon State Park on January 1st at 10 AM.

Mindfulness At The Museum: Art Centered

Namaste! Find your center at Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum on January 4th with their friendly "back to basics" Yoga class. The class will be held in PPHM's art galleries from 10 AM to 12 PM. Enjoy the art that surrounds you while exercising.

Sesame Street Live! Lets Party!

On January 2nd at 1 and 4:30 PM, come party with the Sesame Street characters at the Amarillo Civic Center Complex. Join the fun with an interactive show that unfolds on one of the world's most famous streets at the funniest, furriest party in the neighborhood!

AMoA Open Exhibition Opening Reception

On January 4th from 7 to 9 PM, the Amarillo Museum of Art shows this unique initiative designed to give artists of all ages and levels of experience an opportunity to exhibit their work in a museum setting. Tickets for the opening reception are $10 for non-AMoA members, and children 12 and under are free.

Campfire Sing-Along

Palo Duro Canyon State Park invites you to come out on January 4th at 6:30 PM for a camping tradition, a sing-along and s' mores around the fire! Meet at the Lone Star Interpretive Theater located in the center of the Hackberry Camping Area.

Biennial 600: Textile + Fiber Exhibition

AMoA Biennial 600: Textile + Fiber is the eighth in an ongoing series of juried biennial exhibitions exploring specific areas of artistic practice, material, and content. Artworks were selected from entries submitted by artists residing within a 600-mile radius of Amarillo, Texas. AMoA received over 500 artwork entries for this year’s Biennial 600. Artworks from more than 60 artists are included in the exhibition. Come to the Amarillo Museum of Art during regular museum hours to check out this inspiring exhibit on display until December 22nd.

All Charged Up

The Don Harrington Discovery Center wants to spark your curiosity of the wonders of electricity in this interactive exhibit. Just as Ben Franklin engaged in hands-on experimentation, you will too! Come by during regular museum hours for this hair-raising exhibit.

Native Lifeways of the Plains

This exhibit showcases the material culture of the indigenous people of the Great Plains. Among the key artifacts featured are Quanah Parker’s headdress and lance, the Kiowa calendar, and a recently conserved breastplate dating circa 1880. Select pieces from the museum’s art and photographic collections are included to help contextualize the objects within the scope of traditional lifeways. See this exhibit during regular museum hours until May 2020.
