Get Your Kicks on Route 66

Route 66 is one of the most popular road trips to take in the United States. Once known as the Mother Road, Route 66 was America's first interstate highway and changed the way that American's traveled.
Today, Route 66 offers visitors some of the best looks at Americana and a taste of nostalgia.
Amarillo is home to some of the most iconic places on Route 66 including Cadillac Ranch (the Granddaddy of Roadside Art), The Big Texan Steak Ranch & Brewery (home to the famous 72 oz steak), and GoldenLight Cafe (the longest continuously operating cantina on the Mother Road). Of course, no Route 66 trip in Amarillo is complete without an afternoon in our Route 66 Historic District which is filled with antique and boutique stores, restaurants, art galleries, and nightlife.
