Congratulations to the Amarillo Public Library!

Amarillo's library is the ONLY public library in Texas to host the Americans and the Holocaust exhibit created by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and American Library Association. Over 250 libraries applied, but only 50 were selected across the country! Keep an eye out for this exhibit next year from October 28th to December 9th, 2020. Amarillo is lucky to have such an outstanding library program!

Jazztober

Come join Center City Amarillo on the lawn of the Bivins Mansion (1000 S. Polk) on October 8th at 6 PM for live jazz! Bring your dinner, drinks, blanket or chair, and relax to the sounds of local jazz musicians. This week's entertainment will be Ruth Ellen and Jazz Plus.

Flavors of Amarillo Mariachi Festival

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a tribute to two of the most prized aspects of Hispanic culture... food and music! This event is a great way to explore different flavors with all you can eat food. If you're in need of great food, outstanding entertainers, live music, and great people, head over to the Amarillo Civic Center Complex on October 10th at 5 PM!

Amarillo Bulls Hockey Game

Cheer on the Amarillo Bulls as they take on the Lone Star Brahmas at the Amarillo Civic Center Complex on October 11th and 12th at 7:05 PM. Tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for kids.

Biennial 600: Textile + Fiber Exhibition

AMoA Biennial 600: Textile + Fiber is the eighth in an ongoing series of juried biennial exhibitions exploring specific areas of artistic practice, material, and content. Artworks were selected from entries submitted by artists residing within a 600-mile radius of Amarillo, Texas. AMoA received over 500 artwork entries for this year’s Biennial 600. Artworks from more than 60 artists are included in the exhibition. Come to the Amarillo Museum of Art during regular museum hours to check out this inspiring exhibit on display until December 22nd.

Birding with Ranger Mark!

Come out to Palo Duro Canyon State Park to see the fall flocks on October 12th at 8 AM! There are Warblers, Goldfinches, and more! Dress for the weather in layers, wear hiking boots or sneakers and bring water. The hike is about 1.5 miles on slow, easy terrain. Meet at the Soapberry Day Use Area.

Bring the family out to Starlight Ranch Event Center on October 12th from 11 AM to 5 PM for community booths, games, entertainment on two stages, and a Sausage Cook-Off competition! Free admission with a small charge for games and a wristband to sample sausage.

Dino Day

Bring the family to Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum on October 12th from 1 PM to 4 PM for Dino Day! Kids will be able to excavate a dig site on their East Lawn, make fossils, see live animals, and more! Also, don't miss a visit with Panhandle PBS and Buddy the Dinosaur. Admission is $5 the entire day.

Prairie Dog Town Fork of the Red River Festival

Bar Z Winery is celebrating its 5th Annual Festival to celebrate Texas Wine Day! They'll have other Texas High Plains Wineries, food trucks, vendors, and live music. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. The celebration will be held on October 12th from 2 to 9:30 PM.

It's the event of the year on October 12th from 4 to 7 PM at the Amarillo Netplex. Sample beers from breweries from the surrounding areas and local restaurants will be making unique bacon dishes for the public to sample!

WWE Live!

Your favorite WWE superstars take over Amarillo with double main events! At the Amarillo Civic Center Complex on October 13th at 7 PM you can see a Summerslam Rematch and Street Fight.

On October 13th at 7:30 PM, a musical showdown comes to the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts. Two of the greatest bands of all time face off in a high-energy, adrenaline-pumping musical showdown!

Last Chance To See These Exhibits

8,9,10,11

Cerulean Gallery presents, "8, 9, 10, 11", an exhibition featuring a “series” of works from various artists. A portion of sales that evening will benefit the Amarillo Little Theatre. View during regular gallery hours until October 11th.

The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum will have this fantastic exhibit featuring horses in art at the museum for all to see! Additionally, if one of these paintings speaks to you, you can purchase it to support the museum's efforts to preserve the history of the American Quarter Horse. Cowgirls and Cowboys in the West offers a western adventure tour that celebrates the heritage of the Real West with their various tour offerings and horseback ride tours on the edge of Palo Duro Canyon!

This is a special exhibition at PPHM, showcasing the shared heritage between Amarillo and Kansas City through material objects and artifacts, including saddles, photographs, letters, architectural renderings other functional goods in the PPHM collections. Native Lifeways of the Plains

This exhibit showcases the material culture of the indigenous people of the Great Plains. Among the key artifacts featured are Quanah Parker’s headdress and lance, the Kiowa calendar, and a recently conserved breastplate dating circa 1880. Select pieces from the museum’s art and photographic collections are included to help contextualize the objects within the scope of traditional lifeways. See this exhibit during regular museum hours until May 2020.
