Prairie Palooza is here!

Join Partners in Palo Duro Canyon Foundation and Texas State Parks for the Prairie Palooza on September 16. This event commemorates 100 years of Texas State Parks and Palo Duro Canyon's heritage. Enjoy FREE admission to the state park all day.

Free parking and a shuttle will be provided to Palo Duro Canyon from Sad Monkey Mercantile, sponsored by Visit Amarillo. Don't forget your sunscreen, hats, and water!

When exploring Palo Duro Canyon during high temperatures, stay safe and hydrated. Did you know that the base of the canyon can be 15 degrees warmer than the rim of the canyon? Stay prepared, check the weather, bring more water than you think you'll need, rest in shaded areas, don't forget bug spray and sunscreen, and take care of the park!
