Subject: Black (Belt) Friday

Here’s a heartwarming story to brighten your day.

At the age of 65 years old, Betty Broadhurst (pictured below) received a Black Belt in Jiu-Jitsu.

Betty started training at the age of 54 and after almost a decade of training, coach Diêgo Bispo handed his black belt to Betty Broadhurst after she won gold medals in the blue and purple divisions at IBJJF Masters Worlds.

She got emotional during the presentation earlier this month:

The moral of the story?

The lesson?

Betty wasn’t too old to pursue a dream.

But, it’s more than that…

She had to sacrifice to make it a reality.

She had tried before… and “failed” (though, technically, she didn’t fail… it was simply part of her process… she only would have “failed” if she quit for good, which she didn’t).

It took her 11 years.

But she did it.

I can’t help but think…

What is the equivalent of a “black belt” for a studio owner?

I know what my definition was when I was still struggling:

  1. Full roster of students

  2. On-time payments

  3. Confidence that I could always replace a student that dropped

Would you like to make that a reality for yourself in 2022?

The sooner you start… the sooner you get to the result.

And, it won’t take you 11 years.

This is our biggest registration week of the year. Open enrollment closes on Cyber Monday at 11pm EST on November 29th.

Very best,

Daniel
