No Man Stands Alone Forging Ahead |

The massive California Coastal Redwoods are a wonder to behold. Many of these giants stand over 300 feet tall! A natural question might be, "How deep do these roots need to be to support such a tremendous height?"
The Redwoods don't stand alone... neither do we. |
Surprisingly, on average, their roots go less than 5-7 feet down... but may travel out up to 100 feet! (Click for more).
The Coastal Redwood derives its incredible stability from its root system which is intertwined within a community of other Redwoods. They form an interdependent network, sharing their strength by co-supporting one another. Their root systems can even share nutrients and water within their tree-community. In this manner, the stronger trees are even able to provide what’s lacking in the weaker ones.

As men, we flourish when supported by other men of solid character and spiritual strength - men going in the same direction.
If we want to be strong men, standing tall in our walk, we need godly, well-grounded men around us. Leaning into a network of intertwined hearts around our story is a life-long mission marked by prayer, teachability and willingness.
How do we build this strength into our own story? Through reaching out, responding, integrity, friendship and honesty in life’s battles. We get stronger as we walk with open hands towards the unique ways brotherhood is offered to us.
We were never meant to be Lone Rangers. Let's choose to stand and grow taller in the interdependent fellowship of other men.

The good word above adapted from a leadership moment by Randy Southwick at a Thursday morning Forge Flight Deck Briefing. Randy's a sage among the men of the Forge. Together, we seek to honor the 'sages' in our lives. These are incredibly valuable men, further down the road of spiritual maturity, offering invaluable, seasoned perspective for our hearts. We need sages to look up to - men to speak deep perspective and strength into the story God is telling around us. Find out more about Randy and Laurie's ministry at: Solitude Place.
