A Posture of Receiving Back in the beginning, when phones were on walls, radio stations would sometimes offer a huge stack of cash to the one listener who called first when they broadcasted a special song, (often only once during the summer). The gimmick kept listeners tied to their station all summer long. One movie depicted a guy, (we'll call him 'Zombie Guy'), going without sleep for weeks, hoping to be 'that guy.' But, he happened to be distracted at just the wrong moment, missing THE song.
Sadly, we're too often already filled up on things that mostly make us more empty. Our plans, expectations, desires - even our schedules are perhaps mostly filled with comforts, distractions, idols, time-wasters and placeholders. Our patient, respectful, waiting Father is simply not able to deliver the best gifts He longs to give. This is often because we've chosen the lesser lovers. These lesser lovers then squat on our promised land, keeping out the best that God has for us.
"I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
Wait on the LORD; And be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the LORD! Psalm 27:14 Let's agree to do whatever it takes to use this time of disruption to re-open our hearts to the good that God is always up-to. Let's ask Him about it. Let's dare to pray wild-men prayers like, "Do what it takes to make me into the man you want me to be."
