Fellow NU Pikes,
My name is Matt Johnson, and this year I am the captain of Gamma Rho’s Dance Marathon team. I know a lot of you have participated in NUDM back when you were at Northwestern, so I just wanted to reach out to you guys in the hopes of touching on that nostalgia (or trauma) from your time dancing in the tent for 30 hours.
In the past few years, Pike, paired with Kappa, has done very well with DM, consistently placing in the top two teams in fundraising. However, as of right now, we are in third place among all teams, and would truly appreciate any help from our alumni brothers to get back into those top spots and surpass our team goal of $80,000!
I am very happy to say that DM’s benefactor this year is the newly-established Chicago branch of Cradles to Crayons, an organization that I have actually been volunteering with since I was 11 years old, and one which other Boston guys like myself should be very familiar with. Cradles to Crayons is a nonprofit organization that provides children from birth through age 12, living in low-income and homeless situations, with the essential items they need to thrive. In my opinion, its one of the best benefactors NUDM has had during my 4 years at Northwestern, and we hope this year that DM can raise even more than the record-breaking $1.25 million that was raised last year!
