Subject: It's May 5th! Celebrate #givingtuesdaynow with Friendly Water for the World

Together we give
together we give

Hello,

How are you going to celebrate May 5th this year? You can create a festive Cinco de Mayo. You can cheer the flattening of the coronavirus curve in many places. And then you can join us and millions of others both here in Washington State and around the world as we embrace #GivingTuesdayNow.

#GivingTuesdayNow is a global day of giving and unity created as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. It’s an opportunity for our friends around the world to stand together in unity-to use their individual power of generosity to remain connected and heal. At a time when we are all experiencing the pandemic, generosity is what brings people of all races, faiths, and political views together across the globe.

We will celebrate the generosity of these children from Monze, Zambia - they shared those smiles for free! We recently trained 20 local Monze residents in BioSand Water Filter, rainwater catchment, and brick-making construction. Since our training, they have already built two additional catchments and started construction on new rooms for another school using their new interlocking bricks.

You can help repeat this success in our next project in Simwatachela, Zambia, a far more remote and vulnerable area to the south of Monze. Communities there have suffered through floods and droughts in successive years. Their resources to build resilience from climate change are limited and strained. And the pandemic is just another hardship for which they are the least prepared. But there too is hope. And children who want to celebrate clean water and a new future.

So today, let us celebrate what we can accomplish together. As you plan to give on this international day of generosity, please think of Friendly Water for the World, Simwatachela, and all the people and communities for which you inspire hope. You and your generosity are more important than ever.
